Saving money on phone calls

How to save money on phone calls

Do you like to ring your friends for a natter? Do you worry about how high your phone bill is sometimes? Do you want tp be able to not worry about phone bills?

Free caller display!
http://www.bt.com/btprivacy

Stop paying for this service! Caller Display currently costs £1.75 per month - you can save this. Register for the TPS too and get less nuisance calls (Sadly it doesn't stop ones from bad companys or those overseas nasty calls)

Saving money on your phone bills immediately

You can make instant savings on your phone bills by siging up to various companies who offer you phone calls at a much cheaper rate than BT.

There are a variety of companys offering cheaper calls.

Make sure the cheap deals you're getting match your phone use.

If you use the phone mainly to call friends locally then getting a phone deal which offers you cheap international calls won't do.

Some companies offer you a free credit to try their service. These are well worth trying out.

Some telecom companies offer you free calls bewteen their customers - so once you've signed up getting your mates to sign up too could mean you could chat to each other for free all the time - reducing your bill considerably. Don't be too cheeky though - but point out you could both save loads of money. Why not forward them this page and tell them who you're changing to.

Free phone calls

Do you have a mobile phone? Are you on contract? Would you like to save oney on your line rental? Sometimes its possible to reduce your monthly bill by neogitating with your phone contact provider. By telling them about offers other companies are offering you then you might be able to get them to reduce or match the price.

Changing phone company or phone service

Changing phone company can get you free calls to people on the same service as you - an example of this is tesco's new phone service

Ways of saving money on phone calls

  1. Put the phone in the most cold/unpleasant part of the house. It'll discourage people from stopping chatting on the phone long.
  2. Don't have a cordless phone. If you have to stay near the phone socket and not sit down you'll reduce the amount of time you chat on the phone
  3. Change phone call supplier (see above)
  4. Sign up to equitalk and get £5 free. Run your overseas calls through this - and you'll save money.
  5. Sign up to other phone call rpoviders who offer free calls.
  6. Find out whether your friends who you chat to on the phone will change to the same company as you (eg: tesco ) so you'll get free phone calls to each other.
  7. Visit friends instead of calling them
  8. Write letters to distant relatives instead. It is probably cheaper and you can send them some photos.
  9. Email people who have email. This is free if you have internet access paid for.
  10. If you don't have a fixed internet plan (ie: payg only) then consider getting 24/7 access anf you'll save money and be able to go online more to research other ways of saving money
  11. On PAYG internet access write your emails offline. Go online only to send and recieve email.
  12. Put a timer near the phone. Use it.
  13. Make a call 5 minuytes before you have to go out - then you can say "I have to go out now!"
  14. Take it in turns to ring your friends... let them ring you too.
  15. Don't have an answer service - you only end up ringing people back. If you don't have one and people don't get hold of you they'll try again.
  16. Don't rent your phone from Bt or other companys. Buy one. They're not expensive. They don't break unless you throw them on the floor repeatedly or hit them with a hammer.
  17. Make calls in the cheap rate times
  18. Make sure you know when the cheap rate start

Tesco home Phone - will save you money

Tesco Telecoms Home Phone services are everything our customers would expect from Tesco. They buy very large chunks of talktime from suppliers and pass the savings on. Simple. They constantly check the prices to make sure you're getting the best deal on your phone bill and that they'll save you money.

-Tesco Telecoms - TALK

• Talk for FREE – FOREVER - Free calls to other Tesco home phone customers
included in all our tariffs – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

• FREE Directory Enquiries – 118 321
• No limits on our calls
• FREE Customer line – 0800 068 0818
• Rates to UK mobiles are lower than BT
• More rewarding - Earn Clubcard Points
• It’s easy - There’s no need for a new line or phone

Tesco are able to buy big chunks of calltime at wholesale prices.
This is a lot cheaper than the price you’d normally pay, so
they’re able to pass the saving on to you.

It’s simple to use - you don’t need a box, a new line or a new phone.
You keep your number. And because it still uses a BT line, you’ll still have the all services you normally get from BT like 1471, 1571 and call waiting.
You can still use the internet, and you don’t need to change your ISP.

Tesco home phone Three Tariffs:

TALK 1 - PAY AS YOU GO

If you don’t use your phone very often, then this will work for you.

There is no minimum monthly payment, you just pay for what you use.
2.5p per minute during the day. (Unlike some other companies when we say
daytime, we mean daytime. So our daytime is from 8am – 6pm.)
4.5p per call evenings and weekends. (We know that this is when you’ve got time to chat, so we won’t limit the time you can be on the phone for.)
(BT daytime rate is 3p per min. Evenings and weekends 5.5p for a 60 minute call).

TALK 2 - EVENINGS WEEKENDS – SALE NOW ON - EXTRA 25% OFF

If you work during the day, and you’re mostly at home evenings and weekends,
then we’d recommend Talk 2.

£4.47 per month means free evening and weekend calls to UK landlines (and 2.5p per minute during the day to UK landlines) with no call limits.
(BT charge £6.00 per month and have a 60 minute limit on your calls).

TALK 3 - ANYTIME - SALE NOW ON - EXTRA 25% OFF

If you work from home, or spend a lot of time on the phone during the day as well
as evenings or weekends, then we’d suggest Talk 3.

£11.97 per month means that you can call any UK landline, anytime, free for as
long as you want - again, there are no limits! (BT charge £15.00 per month and have a 60 minute limit the amount of time you spend on calls). All BT prices are correct as of 9/5/05.

WHAT ALL THE PLANS INCLUDE:

FREE calls to other Tesco home phone customers. It’s a winwin situation. The more friends you can switch to us, the cheaper your calls, and the more customers we have.

FREE directory enquiries from a registered Tesco home phone. Just call 118 321.

FREE Customer Service line 0800 068 0818. It is in our interest for your phone to be working!

And they’ll throw in Clubcard Points for every £1 you spend for good measure.

Every little helps.
