Step by Step instructions on how to change supplier

Firstly its not difficult. It is a simple process and will only take a few mionutes to put in the info you need.

Collect together the following information

• Your postcode
• Your fuel bills for the last year - OR - how much you pay per month.
  In order to work out how much you'll save you'll need to know how much fuel you use a year. This can be hard to work out unless you've got bills covering a year - but the amount you pay by direct debit every month x 12 will give you an annual amount.
• Your bank details for setting up a direct debit with Scottish Power.
  
  

Step 1:

This first stage involves putting in your postcode, and clicking to say whether you want a gas and electricity quotes or just electricity only.

If you ask for both then you are asked if you're currently on a dual tariff. This allows the scottish power system to make sure it calculates exactly how much you can save by switching.

For most people it'll be easier to put in the amount you pay - so multiply your monthly payment by 12 to get an annual amount. Once you type in the £ boxes the annual consulption figures box becomes greyed out. You only need to fill in one option for gas and electric

In order to sign up you need to give your bank details. Then the process gets started and you'll soon start saving money on your gas and electricity. It takes between 4-6 weeks to change over during which time you'll be asked to read your meter.

You cna just go with the best savings or you can pick the capped price options which mean your energy prices will be capped and won't go above agreed amounts - and if prices go down then you will save money as your fuel bills are reduced.

Green Energy Fund

Green Energy Fund is one of ScottishPower's "Green" products. Green Energy Fund dual fuel customers give up their annual dual fuel discount of £10.50 per year. This foregone discount is matched by ScottishPower and donated to the Green Energy Fund. The fund is administered by the Green Energy Trust, a registered charity, and is used to finance community based environmental and educational, renewable energy projects.

Green Energy Fund customers will receive a regular newsletter that keeps them informed of how their Green Fund contributions are being invested.

Green Energy H20

Green Energy H20 is one off ScottishPower's "Green" products. The Green Energy H2O dual fuel offer combines standard gas with renewable electricity generated from hydro-power stations.

Green Energy H20 is priced at the same level as ScottishPower's standard product, which means that you can now buy green energy, and contribute to protecting the environment, at no extra cost. Please note that only the electricity component of this dual fuel package is from renewable resources.

The Green Energy H2O dual fuel offer qualifies for an annual discount to £10.50 (incl VAT). This is discount is only available to customers who receive a single bill, and make a single payment, for both fuels

Dual Fuel Energy Online Capped Price May 2007 (G) No Standing Charge: -

This is ScottishPower's Capped Price Offer. This means that the price you pay for your energy will be capped until 30th April 2007. If prices go up during this period, then the price you pay will not go any higher than the capped price rates. If however prices go down, then so will yours. This offer includes a monthly price protection premium for the price guarantee. This premium equates to an additional £2.50 per month for gas and electricity or £1 per month for electricity only. This premium is built into the tariff rate and has already been factored into your savings calculation.

There is NO penalty if you decide to leave this scheme. Unlike some other suppliers you're not tied in to this package so if you decide to leave or change package within scottish power you will not be charged a few for leaving.
