Save money on phone calls -
install Skype and chat for free. You can have a phone number with
it from them - so people can "ring" you - but that costs money>
The basic service is completely free. Try it. We have! My friend Geoff
told me about this and he's always hunting for free ways of chatting to
people.
Skype's been bought by ebay.
 Voip
Cyberphone
It's good to talk, especially on the phone. The trouble is, contrary
to the old saying, telephone talk is not particularly cheap.
Unless of course you invest in an amazing Firebox VoIP Cyberphone,
a revolutionary new way to contact friends and family which doesn't
cost the Earth... In fact, it's FREE!
Our VoIP Cyberphone is a fully functional USB-powered telephone
which comes bundled with Skype™, free software which uses
new VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology to allow you
to make free calls to other VoIP Cyberphones and obscenely low cost
calls to landlines and mobiles all over the world.
All you need is an Internet connection: Broadband is best - although
the system still works with a 56k dial-up - and you can start talking
to the 208,000,000 people worldwide who have already signed up for
Skype™.
All you do is bung in the CD, plug the phone into the nearest USB
socket and dial away. The nifty VoIP technology then digitally converts
your voice through your broadband internet connection and on to
its final destination - be it a fellow Cyberphone owner, a normal
landline or even a mobile phone - anywhere in the world. It's easier
than... er, picking up the phone!

VTraveller
-There are several ways to communicate with friends and colleagues
when you're travelling. Shouting very loudly is one option, but it's
pretty useless unless the person you're trying to contact is within
spitting distance. So what do you do? No, you don't pack two tin cans
and a really long bit of string. You use the phone. The problem is,
contrary to the popular saying, talk is not cheap. But it is if you
use the ingenious Skype-friendly VTraveller. That's because this chic
little phone allows you to make quality VoIP calls wherever you may
roam.
For anyone who's spent the past couple of years with their head
in a barrel of tar, Skype is a simple bit of software that utilises
VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology. This lets you use
your computer to make free calls to other Skype users and obscenely
low cost calls to regular landlines and mobiles all over the world.
How? Well, in a nutshell it digitally converts your voice through
your internet connection (broadband is best) and on to its final
destination. Clever, eh?
But what's so good about the VTraveller, we hear you ask. Well,
this stylish mobile-lookalike is a fully functional USB-powered
phone that works in exactly the same way as our other VoIP handsets.
The difference is it's a compact one-piece unit that you can take
anywhere. Just pop in the Skype CD, plug the VTraveller into your
computer's USB socket, and Bob's your uncle. It's easier than, er,
picking up the phone!
Despite its supreme portability the VTraveller is crammed with
features including an LED message/connection indicator, one click
voicemail, voice recognition technology and wideband circuitry for
crystal clear sound. Best of all you can navigate all of Skype's
services via the VTraveller's keypad, so there's no need to faff
around with fiddly laptop mouse thingies.
Apart from a James Bond briefcase full of flat-packed supermodels,
we can think of no better travelling companion than the VTraveller,
as it allows you to natter away for nothing wherever you may roam.
But even if you're not going anywhere the VTraveller is a brilliant
investment, because it's so gorgeously compact you can shove it
in a drawer when you're not using it - which won't be very often,
because once you start Skype-ing on the VTraveller you'll be hooked.

uConnect
VoIP Converter Okay,
so you've got a computer and you've got a phone. Who hasn't? Anyway,
you've heard about this amazing new technology that allows you to
make free calls from computer to computer and mega-cheap calls to
land lines and mobiles.
The trouble is you don't want to buy one of these newfangled phones
that makes the whole shebang possible. Don't ask us why; maybe you
don't want to clutter your desk; maybe your fingers are phenomenally
au fait with your blower's buttons; maybe you own a cordless phone
and love nattering in the garden; or maybe you love your existing
handset so much you can't bear to see it relegated to second best.
Or maybe you just love the idea of the incredible new uConnect phone
converter.
We know we do, because this ingenious little box of electronic
jiggery-pokery allows you to take advantage of VoIP technology using
your existing phone - whether it's analogue, DECT or even cordless.
Take two handsets into the same room? Nah! Simply attach uConnect
to your regular phone line and your computer's USB port, load up
the included software and Bob's your uncle! Big Bad Bill, on the
other hand, is a distant memory. It's completely idiot-proof and
easier than, er, picking up the phone.
In a nutshell, uConnect takes the analogue signal from your traditional
phone and converts it into digital data for transmission over the
Internet. Clever, eh? You'll ideally need Broadband to get the best
from uConnect and it goes without saying that your computer has
to be switched on to take advantage of the VoIP function. But we
have and it does. So there! Once hooked up, your phone will work
just as it always did, but pressing the * key twice will immediately
activate Skype, allowing you to natter away for nowt for hours on
end.

A guide to VOIP - or internet telephony - or using your phone without
it costing you anything.
If you've got broadband then you have no reason to not be saving money
on your phone calls. It really is simple and you can chat more for less!
What is VOIP?
Define voip - voice over internet protocal is the transmission of conversations
over the internet. Using programs such as skype your conversation is transmitted
as data over the internet rather than through the phone lines.
Advantages - its free. You're not using your phone line for the calls.
Some services allow you to make and recieve calls. There may be additional
charges if you want a VOIP phone number or voice mail or many other services-
but the basic means of making calls is free.
How much does it cost?
If you're on skype and your friends are on skype it costs nothing.
You can't - at the moment - call between programs, so you need the same
one as your friends - Skype is very popular.
Why should I use skype - voip?
It takes one simple download, and you could save money by not using your
phone to chat to friends.
You need
- Computer with broadband internet connection
- VOIP program
- Headphones and mic.
There are telephone handsets which plug in to your pc via a USB port.
Cordless VOIP phones are available.
Bluetooth mobile phone headsets if compatible with usb can provide what
you need.
SOUNDCARD HANDSET
A telephone Handset that replaces your speaker and microphone by plugging
into the mic & speaker ports on your PC's soundcard. Inexpensive and
easy
to set up, requiring no additional configuration or software to operate
USB HANDSETS
The most popular solution. The handset takes over the function of the
PC
soundcard when its plugged in. Some USB handsets are supplied with software
which enables you to control the Skype programme through the handset.
Some
also have a display which can show information from your contacts list,
etc.
ATA-ANALOGUE TELEPHONE ADAPTOR
A box that connects to your PC via USB and allows you to connect a regular
landline telephone to your PC for use with VoIP. Most will also allow
you
to connect your phone to your landline at the same time and some will
allow
to redirect VoIP calls via your landline to another phone. Some will also
allow you to control Skype through the phone.
DECT CORDLESS VoIP HANDSETS
Operates in a similar manner to a USB Handset, in that the base station
of
the phone connects to your PC via a USB, but with the advantage of not
being tied to the PC whilst using VoIP. Some VoIP DECT phones are designed
to be connected to the landline at the same time, with the ability of
making and receiving calls from both VoIP and landlines. Many are able
to
control the Skype programme from the handset.
BLUETOOTH HEADSET & DONGLE COMBINATION
Operates in a similar fashion to a USB handset, but with the advantage
for
being able to conduct VoIP conversations away from the PC. The headset
is
paired to the Bluetooth USB adaptor that is plugged into the PC in the
same
way as it would pair with a mobile phone. Some Bluetooth adaptors can
be
paired to more than one headset at a time and depending on the headset
you
could have it paired to the Bluetooth adaptor and your mobile phone at
the
same time.
